  • Environmental Sustainability

    Since 2003 our strict Environmental Code of Practices has helped us develop some of the industry’s most innovative manufacturing processes. Controlled by our Environmental Management System, the benefits are found in every garment we make. Some of our innovative practices include:

    • Our innovative BIOTOP wastewater treatment system uses gravity, micro-organisms and sunlight to virtually eliminate the dyes and chemicals from our water.
    • We are reducing our Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) through initiatives such as Condensate Return systems, alternative transportation projects and Biomass Steam Generation.
    • Our Waste Management System has allowed us to reduce our landfill waste by 16% for textile operations and 26% for sewing operations over the past two years.
    • Gildan purchases US cotton, sustainably grown and ethically harvested under strict FDA and USEPA guidelines.

    Gildan products carry the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, an internationally recognized standard for product health and safety. This is your guarantee that no harmful chemicals or materials are found in our products.

  • Employment & Labour Practices

    Gildan operates state-of-the-art facilities in which our products are made. That makes it easier to strictly enforce our Code of Conduct... your assurance that the product you buy was made in a safe and ethically managed environment.

    This code follows the International Labor Organization standards and local and international laws. Our sewing operations are all accredited by Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP).

    Gildan is the world's only vertically-integrated basic apparel manufacturer whose labor compliance program is accredited by the Fair Labor Association.

    Gildan employees receive generous benefits including free onsite medical clinics, subsidized meals, transportation and educational programs. Last year Gildan provided more than 1,250,000 hours of labor compliance training to ensure our codes are understood and embraced from the executive suite down to the plant floor.
